Lyon airport

Lyon Airport is a medium-sized airport in France. There are no direct flights from Japan, but it is connected to major cities such as Frankfurt and Paris. The airport has platforms for both the Rhônexpress tram and high-speed TGV trains. The Rhônexpress connects the airport with central Lyon, while the TGV connects the airport with Paris, Marseille, Lyon, Lille, and other major cities across France. The stations for both services are located next to each other on the west side of the airport terminal.

The Rhônexpress connects Lyon Part-Dieu Station in the city center with the airport in about 30 minutes. It operates every 20 minutes, making it a highly recommended option for traveling between the airport and central Lyon. There are no ticket gates at the station. Be sure to purchase your ticket from the ticket machine before boarding. Passengers who board without a valid ticket are subject to a fine. Since the number of ticket machines is very limited and they are often crowded, it is strongly recommended to purchase your ticket online through the official website.

TGV Platform

This platform is exclusively served by TGV, France’s high-speed train. It is located next to the Rhônexpress platform. There are no ticket gates at the station, so tickets are checked by conductors onboard the train. While many trains pass through without stopping, if the schedule fits, it offers convenient access to nearby cities such as Mâcon, Valence, and Avignon.
